Monte Cristo Sandwich
This was another Pinterest mighty recipe! I only have a screen shot and so sadly I cannot credit the original poster, but… whoever, wherever you are… we thank you for this gem!
Ingredients
- whole grain rye bread - 4 slices
- swiss cheese - 4 slices organic
- honey ham - 200 grams
- honey mustard - 3 tsp (1 tsp olive oil mayo + 1 tps dijon mustard + 1 tsp organic honey)
- eggs - 2
- pepper - dash
- nutmeg - dash
- butter - for the pan
Instructions
- Mix your honey mustard together
- Lay out your bread and smooth even amounts of the mustard over each slice
- Top each slice with Swiss cheese, and sandwich the ham evenly between two closed pieces of bread (so you end up with bread, mustard, cheese, ham, cheese, mustard, bread)
- Melt butter in a pan
- In a shallow bowl, mix together eggs, nutmeg and pepper
- Lay your sandwich carefully into the egg mixture, flipping to coat both sides, and place into the frying pan
- Cook on low, covered until lightly browned on one side; flip and cook the other side as well
